Edmonston Stormwater Pump Station
Prince George’s County, Maryland
Waste Water Management, Inc. was retained by the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation to design a pump station to mitigate regular problematic neighborhood flooding. Archimedes screw pumps were selected as the best alternative due to their large capacity, ability to handle debris, and ability to run dry. Project entailed review by numerous parties including the US Army Corps of Engineers. Project low bid was $5.3 million dollars and completion is anticipated early in 2008.

Project Highlights
Well site selection
Development and permitting of a new 350 gallon per day well
Depth of well is approximately 500’
Well pump is 3 stage rated at 350’ gpd and 279’ TDH
Control building with flow meter and well level logging equipment
Approximately 3200’ of 6” diameter ductile iron raw water pipeline
Stone Eden Well (Well 14)
Loudoun County, Virginia
Waste Water Management, Inc. developed, designed, and coordinated the permitting of the Town of Hamilton’s new Stone Eden Well (Well #14). The well is a high yield well designed to replace the Town’s aging distributed system of wells. The project is a part of the Town of Hamilton’s Water System Improvements as conceptualized in the Town of Hamilton Water System Preliminary Planning Report prepared by Waste Water Management, Inc.

Project Highlights
Survey of existing water distribution system
Development of a water distribution map
Development of a water distribution system hydraulic and quality model
Use of hydraulic model to prioritize water system replacement and upgrade projects
Use of quality model to analyze proposed flushing plans
Town of Hamilton
Water Distribution System Model
Loudoun County, Virginia
The Town of Hamilton, Virginia, recognizing growth as an issue, undertook an ambitious upgrade of its water distribution system. As a part of the upgrade, a hydraulic and water quality model of the Town’s water distribution network was developed. The model was developed using AutoCAD and Haestad Methods WaterCAD. Field determination of friction factors was performed at various locations to calibrate the model, which is now used successfully in the optimal selection of waterline replacement projects. It has also been used to determine the effects of taking various wells out of service.

Project Highlights
100 gpm suction lift duplex pumps at 145’ TDH
5 HP hydraulically driven wall mounted comminutor
14’ deep precast concrete wet well
Precast concrete comminutor well, wet well, and receiving manhole structures
80 kw diesel powered stand by generator
13,000’ force main, 4” PVC C-900 pipe
900’ gravity sewer, 8”, DR-18
Route 20 Sewer Project
Orange County, Virginia
Waste Water Management, Inc. (WWMI) was retained by the Orange County Office of Economic Development to provide complete civil, hydraulic, mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering design services for a pump station and force main project to serve an industrial park. WWMI also furnished bidding and construction administration services and coordinated the platting of easements. Installation in VDOT right of way was coordinated with VDOT. The new pump station system will be owned by the Town of Orange. Water and sewer to the site are provided by the Rapidan Service Authority. The new 13,000’ C900 PVC force main connects to a Town of Orange manhole. Electrical conduit and a concrete slab were provided for future odor control equipment. Emergency power supply is provided by an 80kw standby diesel generator. Construction cost was approximately $1,000,000.
